Violence in any particular corner of our society is a symptom of a deeper American problem. Only a proactive choice for non-violence will cast violence from our midst..

Violence on the part of anyone should be condemned, and perpetrators should be held accountable. But the police in city after city (NYC, Portland, Louisville, Seattle) are doing more to protect those who are violent and to violate those who are peaceful.

We should all do everything possible to counter the lie that it is the protesters causing the chaos. Thank you to the amazing video journalists out there who are literally risking their lives to get the true story out. The least we can do is retweet their work.
For all those buying the lie that protestors are the ones causing mayhem. This video taken last night in NYC, showing mass, unprovoked violence by hundreds of cops against people dining & a few people with phones out, shows who has been sowing anarchy.

I too was once a high school student in Houston. We should lower the voting age to 17, possibly to 16. Public policies will affect them for a lot longer than they will affect us. And at this point the kids are smarter.

We have video after video of people being attacked by the police who were clearly not rioting.

They are being trained like the military these days, too often acting as though they are an occupying force.

Too many police have clearly been trained to view -and to treat- protesters as enemies. There is something fundamentally wrong with the way our police are trained and we the people have the right to demand change. #TransformThePolice
The Portland Police knock John Rudolf to the ground. John is 73 years old. He was a cardiologist for 35 years. John is a better braver man than any member of the Portland Police. Justify this @tedwheeler and @KateBrownForOR. People reading, demand they speak to this.
