Many of us, myself included, see our careers as a means to the end of serving God. I don’t criticize her for that especially since she was speaking at a Catholic University. Separation of church & State was not intended to discriminate against religious values.

Since when in America does someone get nominated for the Supreme Court & we start talking about their religion and children? The only reason Republicans are doing it now is that they’re mounting an offense, trying to distract from the awful, regressive tenets of People of Praise.

“Women are by nature manipulative. This is one of the effects of Original Sin on them. The wise husband will factor this into his relationship with his wife, recognizing that much of what she does is insincere.” 🤦🏻‍♀️motherjones.com/politics/202…

I don’t think her adopting those children is racist or colonizing, but neither do I think economic corporatism is the only issue here. This isn’t just about messaging, it’s about how her viewpoints on women, blacks, LGBTQ, the poor, etc. will influence SCOTUS for decades to come.

There’s no basis for believing that in response to 9/11 Gore would’ve attacked a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 and that had no ties to Al Qeda. That was a neocon vision from before 911; it was nothing Gore would have supported.

Wait. There are over a billion wonderful Catholic people on this planet. Plus I think Pope Francis says many things that are a force for good.

But that’s not the official position of the Catholic Church. Whether or not Catholics should be serving in high positions was settled with the presidency of JFK. Of course they should.

Of course I denounce those things. The question is why anyone on either right or left would denounce peaceful protesting. MLKJr was a Baptist preacher. Many protestant, Catholic and Jewish clergy supported his protests.

This isn’t about a losing or winning message. The points about me were lies. But tenets of the “People of Peace” as stated by them are anti-Black, anti-LGBTQ and suppressive of the rights of women. Those issues are extremely important in the choice of a Supreme Court justice.

You mean like those activist judges who told the Florida Supreme Court they could not count all the votes in Florida even though the constitution says that that is the job of the states?

Her view of women and their place in society as well as some other things is not just a culture of war.

Amy Barrett being Catholic is a good thing; Joe Biden is a Catholic too. Republicans are trying to make it as though the Left is criticizing her Catholicism but it’s not true. It’s the repressive tenets of the “People of Praise” sect she belongs to that are genuinely concerning.

I’m a Jew but I don’t think that’s weird. She’s a Catholic and I don’t think that’s weird. It is the sect she belongs to - “People of Praise” - that I believe brings up relevant and legitimate criticism.

Please read the article accompanying my tweet. Also my tweet underneath. I was not referring to the pope at all.

Not at all. If you read the article I posted, this is not about being anti-religion or even anti-Catholic. Not even a little bit.
