In Vietnam, they have ATM like machines on the streets that dispense free rice. A government that decides to take care of its people during a crisis has the means with which to do so; we did it during the Great Depression. Our current government is simply choosing not to.

“In one week in late July nearly 30 million Americans reported they did not have enough to eat... Among households with children, one in three reported insufficient food, the highest level in the nearly two decades “ This is a humanitarian emergency. nytimes.com/2020/09/03/us/fo…

I know. It’s very disturbing and quite incredible.

And you are quite the apologist. I actually did not compare Trump to slaveowners; comparing him to Mussolini is far more accurate.

You believe Biden and Trump represent equally pernicious views; I do not. And in a Biden administration I will still have the chance to express my views; in a Trump second term, those chances will be limited for many of us

There were ministers during the Civil War who provided cover for slaveowners. Do you think they were “healers?”

The point is that I do see the beauty in both sides. There are high minded conservative principles and high minded liberal principles. It should be a yin and a yang, not enemies pitted against each other. And fascism is their common enemy.

I don’t blindly believe anything. And it’s not just about the militarization of police, it’s about the use of police forces. I do not believe Biden would be sending in federal troops to attack the citizens of the United States...and I believe Trump would. He’s clearly itching to.

I didn’t say “minor significant differences.”

There is no “other side” to fascism except complete surrender to forces of totalitarianism. You can’t have an honorable debate with fascism.

MLK talked about “a coalition of conscience.” We can’t move forward if everything is an oppositional conversation. Allies aren’t necessarily people we agree with about everything. Defeating Trump isn’t Dem vs. Repub, left vs. right. It’s people of goodwill vs. a fascist threat.

Nothing is more important than that we stop this.
This isn’t just a sanction of Right Wing vigilante violence, it’s a call for widespread sectarian violence. The alternate reality they’ve constructed for political and financial benefit is completely imagined and they’re pushing violence as a necessity.

I think it’s important to acknowledge the thousands of people who understandably fear losing their jobs, with plans for a compassionate transition that favors them and repurposes their skill sets.

Not. No evidence of that whatsoever. He made it up as a way of trying to steal the election.

It’s one thing when a thief comes into your house while you’re not home. In this case, we’re at home and the thief is stealing our democracy right in front of our eyes.
ABC EXCLUSIVE: The DHS intelligence bulletin warning about foreign interference in the 2020 election was supposed to go out on July 9 but was blocked by Chad Wolf's chief of staff. This story is especially significant after the DNI's suspension of in-person briefings to Congress

Conviction is a force multiplier. Many more people love than hate but those who hate today are hating with conviction. When hate speaks loudly it’s not enough for love to whisper. Every time they tell a lie, proclaim the truth as you understand it with fierceness, passion & spine
