OK, just one more and then I’ll let you sleep. Before the election in 2016 a young woman said to me “I’m sorry, Marianne. You can’t make me vote my fear.” And I remember thinking, “Oh darling I wish you would.”
There is no doubt what this country needs fundamental change. In many areas, from climate change to criminal justice, the system is saturated with corruption & incremental change is not enough. But if Trump wins again our capacity for meaningful activism could be severely limited
Think about everything Trump has done and remember: this was him when he’s holding back. If we give him a second term there will be NOTHING holding him back. We should think of everything he’s done over the last four years - and multiply it.
Your information on war in Yemen is incorrect. It’sTrump who sold the Saudi Arabians $360 Billion in arms in exchange for us giving aerial support to the war in Yemen. He then vetoed a bipartisan effort to stop it. I would also argue that he’s started a cold Civil War right here.
He has certainly perpetuated wars already begun. He is an accomplice to the war in Yemen, by the way. And I absolutely fear he will imprison journalists if he is elected again.
I can’t even argue against that, but that in itself is enough to tip the scale for me. Think about the goons he sent to Portland. And then think about what he really wanted to send to Portland, and what he will be able to do if he gets a second term.
You don’t tell somebody to “stop” whatever it is they want to write on their own Twitter page. There are millions of people on the fence about this and I’m clearly talking to them, not you.
Do I hope we get some concessions over the next 60 some odd days? Of course I do. For one thing, I think it would help him win. But I’m not expecting it. Again, if Trump wins again it will be catastrophic.
The biggest crock I’ve ever heard. There is not one shred of evidence that that is true. He has done nothing to fight human trafficking and he has done much to hurt millions of children.
Nobody knows that better than me. But if my house is on fire and the fireman comes, I don’t try to figure out whether or not I like him before deciding whether or not to allow him to put out the fire.
