But there’s a difference between bullshit and fascism. By the way, not every Democrat is against Medicare4All. Many are for it, but the corporatist wing of the party has more power than the progressives right now.

I think a lot of people know how to tell the outrageous truth, but the campaign industrial complex mitigates against it. Radical truth- telling and the corporatized political-media machinery don’t align well. But no we’re not doomed. We just need a lot of God’s help at this point

Because so many people are deeply uninformed, for one thing.

That’s not how I see it. One tells outrageous lies and one tells an incomplete version of the truth.

The only thing that will defeat outrageous lies is the outrageous truth.

Forging a healthy balance is the goal of a healthy society. Yes, you’re able to put your factory wherever you want; but no, you can’t do it in an environmentally destructive way. What’s happened over the last few years is that we turned rugged individualism into rugged narcissism

Also note: Friedman said none of it would work without a Universal Basic Income in the form of a negative income tax.

No disagreement there at all. Sort of my point. The false god of short term stockholder value as opposed to consideration for all stakeholders involved: workers, environment, country.

It matters TOTALLY, because only when we elect people willing to limit runaway corporate power will things change.

I did. Today we focus on the individual at the expense of the collective, but communism focuses on the collective at the expense of the individual. Both are wrong.

There’s some truth there. Compare the corporate tax rate under Eisenhower (90%) to what it is today (22%)

Capitalism has done a lot of good, you’re right. But only when its overreach was held in check by labor unions, financial regulations, anti-trust laws & fair taxation. When that blew up in the 1980’s (plus $ in politics) it started becoming an unfettered terror. And here we are.

Because the day after the second debate a certain someone said “Get that woman off the stage.”

Hundreds of thousands of people died moving that needle. It’s not as though no generation had anything figured out until we came along.
