Abolitionists didn’t know *how* it could happen, suffragettes didn’t know *how* it could happen and civil rights workers didn’t know *how* it could happen. They just knew they were going to *make* it happen. And that’s the grit that we need now: fascism will not stand in America.

On a day like today we have 2 emotional choices: get depressed and cynical, or motivated and inspired. I’m going with my late father’s voice in my head: “Don’t let the bastards get you down, little sister.” I’ll give myself an hour to scream into a pillow & then get back to work.

The acquittal was not surprising but it’s still shocking. The corruption is staggering but the story not over; the people of the U.S. will find a way to handle this. How sad that those Senators chose not to handle it today.
