That's where we disagree but I'm not sure it matters too much. The conversation devolves when it's just about labels. The most advanced countries have elements of both capitalism and socialism, and there are many places where they overlap.
I'm not tolerant of unfettered capitalism. The overreaches of capitalism have become a scourge on our society, our democracy & our planet. But that overreach was allowed by the corruption of government, a corruption vastly increased by the undue influence of money on our politics
Agency capture of FDA became one of our biggest modern tragedies - corporate interests such as food & chem companies, Big Pharma & Big Ag have all gained undue influence over agencies that were established to oversee them. Those meant to police them are too often their advocates.
Not necessarily. Greedy people can misuse socialism as well as capitalism; a fairytale version of socialism some people are throwing around isn’t that helpful. It’s not so much socialism versus capitalism as it is institutionalized greed versus institutionalized ethical restraint
She’s right. I love how she’s not letting herself be seduced by all the institutional nonsense that dulls the voices of so many good people once they get into government.
