Amen.
It has been nearly four months since police officers murdered Breonna Taylor as she was sleeping. It is long overdue that her killers be brought to justice.

This is immoral and obscene.
Drug makers sued Minnesota over a law requiring them to give low-cost insulin to people who can't afford it. 1 in 4 diabetics ration insulin due to skyrocketing cost. The law is named after Alec Smith, who died after rationing his insulin because he couldn't pay $1,300/month.

There is no serious spiritual or religious path that gives any of us a pass on addressing the suffering of other sentient beings....

It’s called democracy. Everybody gets to express their own opinion.

I think the powerful thing about what’s happening now is that it IS a leaderless movement. A spontaneous surge of the American heart. All citizens are leaders now. And fantastic progressive Congressional candidates are running this year. We need to support them!

What is it that I should say? BLM is a good thing. Are some criminals taking advantage of the situation and looting etc.? Yes they are, and no person of goodwill is happy about that. Of course it’s wrong. But the violence of the police is greater than the violence of the looting.

It takes emotional/psychological/ intellectual fortitude to wage a political revolution. They assume we’ll get tired & give up; that’s their strategy. Take short naps (cry for an hour or two, take a day off to do dumb things), pace yourself, rise up the next day & go at it again.

We have plenty! Money out of politics, end corporate rule, fair taxation, racial & criminal justice, Medicare4all, Green New Deal, free tuition, college loan forgiveness, direct cash relief & UBI, peacebuilding, ending systemic child neglect - to name a few. & defeat you-know-who

We can’t know, but the awakening & conviction & awareness rising up now - coupled with approaching elections - means game on. We can’t let individual lost battles defeat us emotionally. It’s a long haul - because it’s a deep cancer & we let it go on too long - but love will win.

Neither the abolitionists nor suffragettes nor civil rights movement would have thought it “reasonable” to think they could override the extraordinary economic and governmental force of the status quo of their times. Yet they did. It can take time, but better ideas ultimately win

3/ From sex trafficking to hunger to violent abuse to undereducation and lack of opportunity, our systems now in place can adequately serve maybe 10% of the children who need it. That’s why we need a Department of Children and Youth. Their needs should be served first… not last.

2/ Millions of American kids live w/ chronic trauma & have PTSD no less severe than vets from Afghanistan & Iraq. Many live in “domestic war zones.” Cuz kids aren’t old enough to vote or wield financial influence, our political system is mainly blind to the extent of the problem.

1/ Even before Covid 13 million of our kids went to school hungry. Millions to schools where classrooms don’t even have school supplies to teach a child to read, & if kids can’t learn to read by 8 then chances of high school graduation decrease & chances of incarceration increase

When govt is essentially bought by those like defense contractors and Big Pharma, any healthy skepticism regarding their overreach is treated as blasphemy by neo-liberal establishment. But healthy skepticism is core to the exercise of freedom, however inconvenient it is to them.
