She had said she wanted New Zealand to be “the best place in the world for a child to grow up.” I said she’d be my first call because I wanted to call and tell her she was going to have to compete with me on that. Thus “Girlfriend, you’re on.”

This isn’t an accident; it’s how the system works now. Ever-expanding inequality an inherent design flaw & only fundamental change will fix it. SCOTUS Justice Brandeis said we can have large amounts of $ concentrated in hands of a few or we can have democracy; we can’t have both.

No. What I am is simply a woman who doesn’t see things the same way you do.

There’s a lot we can change, once we face the fact that many terrible things that happen now are simply legacies of the original error.

Neither do I, nor do I spread false information about people whom I don’t even know just because I’ve read a bunch of b.s. on the Internet.

Any citizen who cries about the violation of all things we hold most dear and doesn’t think we would have been better off with her as President should not be taken seriously either.

Let this moment open our eyes not only to the prevalence of violence in our domestic policing but also to the prevalence of violence in our foreign affairs. And most importantly, why.

Arms sales, yes. But in those days everyone said “Oh, it doesn’t really matter because they don’t use them for anything.” Not that I’m excusing that. But they started “using” them under Trump.

3/ When Secty of State Mike Pompeo was asked about the immorality of providing arms to Saudi Arabia with which they commit genocide, he responded “Sometimes you can have partnerships with people who do not share your values.” No you can’t, Mr. Pompeo. It means you have no values.

2/ Tens of thousands of Yemenis have been starved to death in this war, many of them children. Republicans and Democrats have both tried to stop it, but have not been able to override his veto. Now Trump is trying to end the requirement for congressional approval of arms sales.

1/ For the sake of a $360 Billion arms deal, the Trump administration has given aerial support to Saudi Arabia with which they prosecute a genocidal war against Yemen.

No, the system does not require hate. The system, in order to work on our behalf, requires that we tend to it consistently. In the absence of enough of us doing so, some heartless forces filled in the void. They don’t actively hate, by the way; they simply don’t care.

Far more people love than hate, but those who hate today hate with conviction. And conviction is a force multiplier. Things will change as those of us who love display as much conviction behind our love, as those who hate display behind their hate.

“The past is never dead. It’s not even past.” - Wm. Faulkner. Until we heal the past we are destined to repeat it, and that’s as true for a country as it is for an individual.
