People who didn’t learn about the Bill of Rights when they were children are more likely to become adults who don’t know enough to be horrified when it’s under assault. It’s frightening how many people don’t recognize what a threat he is to the basics of our democracy.

I agree. All of which should also include getting rid of high-stakes testing.

Many do I’m sure, but many clearly don’t.

It’s amazing how little literature children are being taught to read today. It’s like it’s been edged out of the curriculum...!

Of course they’re taught, but not with the same level of support. 11 states don’t even require half a year of civics education. People who don’t learn about the Bill of Rights when they’re children, grow up to be adults who don’t know to be horrified when it’s under assault.

That’s not a “deep state.” That’s a corporate aristocracy - and the thought that Trump is saving us from it is the biggest joke in the world. He is their biggest puppet ever. He’s never met a fossil fuel producer, defense contractor or health insurance company he doesn’t love.

20 yrs ago subjects like science, tech, engineering & math (STEM) became emphasized in public schools. But history, civics, government and art are just as important & their de-emphasis in schools has had devastating effects. (There’s a reason why he said “I love the uneducated”)

You prefer that large corporations tell the government what to do? That’s what we have now.

It is not too late! America has made radical, revolutionary changes before. And cynicism is just an excuse for not helping.

It’s the philosophical underpinning of our democracy that has become frayed, the social consensus that the purpose of government is to serve the people and not the other way around.

Once they’re out of prison they’ve paid their debt. Whether or not you vote shouldn’t be predicated on whether or not you can hold down a job.

Capitalism without a conscience is the problem, not the solution. Do you think publishers don’t decide what books to publish? Newspapers don’t decide what articles to print?
