This is the truth, at a time when radical truth telling is considered too “out there,” too “weird,” too “far left.” God help us.
Bills are piling up, rent is due, millions are jobless. A one-time $1,200 check won’t cut it. We need to provide $2,000 a month to every man, woman and child—and make it retroactive to cover the past three months. If we can bail out corporations, we can ensure everyone’s needs.

The problem is that America has an almost pathological aversion to owning up to its own mistakes, past or present. Politicians play into that with a corporate “Don’t complain, don’t explain” attitude. KKK is bad guys, but they’re “our” bad guys so it’s like it’s OK or something.

2/ Other generations have rid the country of its manifestations, from slavery to segregation. But those are merely effects. The task of our generation is to deal with it on the level of cause. Very few of us have no violence in our hearts to surrender. And now is the time.

1/ From the beginning of our country, outsized use of brute force has been a reality at odds with our own principles, ever present like a - dare I say:) - dark psychic force of collectivized hatred that materializes in various iterations generation after generation.

Replying to @CoolNerdSymptom
It was a huge strategic error for Democrats to abandon those populations over the last few decades. Time to retrieve it.

The rest of the country heard about her because she was the one chosen by the Democratic establishment. But Mike got into the race months before Booker did.

But Louisville isn’t where there’s a problem. Louisville will go democratic no matter who gets the nomination.

The Democrats giving up on rural America and just abandoning them the way they have over the last few years is a large part of how we got here. Just assuming they won’t vote for us was a terrible strategy then and it’s a terrible strategy now.

Yes, I agree with you. I deleted my tweet because it was too easy to misinterpret. Thanks.

2/ But this is a wake up call, cuz it was never the case that our principles could be safely entrusted into the hands of anyone but ourselves. Coming this close to disaster, even experiencing it as we have, has awakened us to that. This is a reinvigoration of the American spirit.

1/ A country’s strength doesn’t lie in its armies or its economic reserves; it lies in its principles. But none of those things maintain and replenish themselves. We’ve built our armies and tended to our economy - an unjust one at that -often at the expense of our principles.
