There you have it, folks. That’s it right there.
The NYPD’s budget is $6,000,000,000 That’s more than the city spends on health, homelessness, youth development and workforce development combined.

I’m asked this question a lot recently. It’s like a boyfriend who said to me many years ago, “You look good in retrospect.” 🤦🏻‍♀️

Cuz people who say things like that are too often called things like “fucking orb queen,” making them slither away in humiliation rather than asking who the real fucker is. As long as people are so vulnerable to disinformation, the most important conversations will be sidelined.

Actually, no. I didn’t defend myself about these things during the campaign & it’s important to me to set the record straight. The problem wasn’t that I didn’t say these things during my race. The problem was a deliberate disinformation campaign that convinced people not to listen

I have no reason to apologize for my beliefs. I stand by them. But when someone else says what I believe and I say “Actually, that’s not what I believe,” the burden of proof is not on me.

3/ This generation won’t have peace If we think it’s as simple as getting rid of institutional forms of violence. We will have true peace only when we decide to wage peace. That’s why the peaceful protests are important. Why justice is important. And why we need a Dept of Peace.

2/ A tendency towards violence is a national character defect. From slavery to genocide of Native Americans to mass incarceration & police brutality, it’s not enough to treat the effects. It’s time for us to recognize the underlying cause, to atone for it & commit to real change.

1/ Police brutality is part of a larger system of brutality. Our economic system is brutal to the poor, our environmental policies are brutal to the earth, factory farming is brutal to animals, and our military policies are too often brutal towards other people in the world.

Nothing I said in any of my books - except when taken totally and completely out of context & with the obvious intention to disinform - are anything I would apologize for. Asking me when the last time was that I beat my wife isn’t something I’m supposed to have to respond to.

I said the exact same things when I was running that I’m saying now. Which is why they came up with the ubiquitous wall of mockery in the first place...

The book “A Warning” by Anonymous talked about it. According to the author, Trump’s cabinet have discussed it often but have felt that if they were to leave then things would get even worse.
