The opinion editor of the New York Times should publicly apologize at the very least. Publishing Tom Cotton’s op ed was not just publishing “a different opinion.” It gave voice to a call for the military takeover of the United States of America. WTF doesn’t even begin to cover it

nothing, nothing more important than that we all become deeply involved in the Congressional & Senatorial races. It’s not “the” answer but it’s a huge part of it. And it’s not as simple as “vote blue,” because there are different shades of blue - both corporatist and progressive

Of course they do. I think the majority of them are very fine people, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a problem or that we shouldn’t mention it.

No, we’re not screwed. We just have to get really clear about what’s happening. We need to think very deeply and reflect very wisely, stay nonreactive, pray for guidance, love our enemies and kick ass for our country.

I think it’s so much bigger than that at this point, Hal.

People devoted to service are probably the ones who know exactly what’s going on. They don’t like what’s happening anymore than we do.

No. We have to be very very careful. Remain non-violent. This is not a moment to be reactive. It’s a moment to understand clearly what’s happening, but to go deep into the silence of our hearts for guidance on how to proceed.

Tonight there was a riot all right. It was one big riot that broke out in several cities. It was a police riot, however. It was a loud and violent response to the arrest of all four officers who have now been charged in the George Floyd murders. It’s a big “How fucking dare you?”

I agree with this.
police are beating random people who aren’t even protesting because it’s not about looting or rioting- it never was about order. this is collective punishment for daring to speak out against the police.

Everywhere you look online, you see reports of peaceful protesters having tear gas thrown at them - and worse. What the hell is going on in this country? Joe? Nancy? Barack? Mitch...? My God, the best statement so far has been from George W. Bush. And I thought I had seen it all.

I mean. I can’t...
A Huntsville police lieutenant justified using a "chemical agent" (i.e. tear gas) on peaceful protesters because he said the police department didn't want to "roll the dice" to see if the protest would turn violent. alreporter.com/2020/06/03/hu…

No, because I never went to sleep. My father took me to Vietnam in 1965 when I was 13 years old to show me what the military-industrial/complex was doing. He said, “You’re only a kid but you need to know.”

THIS is America. And we shouldn’t let anyone tell us otherwise. The haters have been talking very long and very loud, but love is beginning to respond.

2/ We stood for justice for Floyd & it's starting to happen. But none of this energy should dissipate. It should go into whatever activity someone feels called upon to follow up with now. And all of us should make electing a different kind of candidate a major goal of our lives.

1/ America's experiencing a spontaneous non-violent revolution. It's obvious on the streets yet is being ignored by Congress and opposed by the White House. Still, it's there and we need to ask ourselves, "What are we going to do with this now?"
