We’re being thrust kicking & screaming into the 21st-C, forced to give up attitudes left over from centuries past which are literally unsurvivable in this one. For an entire civilization it’s both a death process and a birth process. The death of an old me, the birth of a new we.
If artists & philosophers & scientists & healers & teachers ruled the world, could we be doing any worse? Might we not in fact be doing better? The idea of lawyers & economists & businesspeople as the “qualified” lot is starting to fade. We need vision and moral clarity and love.
3/ According to MLKJr. “There’s a power inside us greater than the power of bullets.” That’s the only power that will ultimately change things. We’re going to change America because we love America, and change the world because we love the world. Nothing will ever be the same.
2/ According to Gandhi, “spiritual purification precedes political action.” To mount a powerful enough wave of energy to override accumulated forces of insanity, we need to harness the power of an internal source. Only change on the inside has requisite impact on the outside
1/ When times are unstable, It’s important that we be stable. When times are chaotic, it’s important that we be peaceful. When external foundations tremble, our internal foundations become more important than ever.
5/ In the final analysis the people are in charge. All we have to do is remember that and America will find its way. We have to continue to protest. Continue to speak up. Continue to run for office. And continue to vote. We can't give up even for a minute. It's a patriot's duty.
4/ Any Congressman or Senator who isn't concerned about what this means isn't understanding what's happening. They will step up now - and no, not just to "condemn" police brutality but to STOP police brutality, and mean it - or the system will be rocked in ways we've never seen.
3/ Our political establishment completely failed to take on issues of systemic economic, criminal & environmental injustice toward black Americans. People have every reason to think that nothing short of mass protests would get the establishment’s attention. This changes the game
2/ Yes it’s true that people are coming in from the fringes to sow chaos for their own purposes, but we shouldn’t let that blind us to the fact that America is experiencing a spontaneous eruption of moral outrage. The protests at their core are an expression of legitimate fury.
1/ Churchill said “you can always count on Americans to do the right thing, after they’ve exhausted every other option.” We’re often late waking up to a problem enough to do anything about it, but once we do we slam it like nobody’s business.
William Barr just said the peaceful protests have been infiltrated by outside groups. He said they’re far left Antifa. Why would we assume they’re Antifa and not white supremacists? Trying to wrap my head around all of this...
I was glad to share the story of my experience during the AIDS epidemic. America has gone through tough experiences before, we've gotten through them before and we'll get through this one too.
"11th Hour not Midnight" @marwilliamson talks to us about her activism in the past and tell us to keep up hope for the future.
It's a great episode to learn about the AIDS crisis in the 1980s, the Democratic party and Spirituality!

MN Atty Gen Keith Ellison lays it down truthfully. Says vast majority of protestors are good and righteous and taking a stand for justice, but that evil elements are infiltrating the protests to cause damage & lower people’s opinion of the protesters. Asks people to honor curfew.
I hear you. Please tell me what you would like to see happen now specifically? As someone who lives there and knows the problem viscerally, your words mean a lot. Thanks for sharing.
