Add Tim Snyder and a history of World War II, and you start to see what’s going on.

In America alone: Abolition, women’s suffrage movement, civil rights movement, labor movement, marriage equality etc. We all need a big history class. It’s not like our ancestors were just a bunch of dorks who weren’t as smart as we are and never did anything. It’s our turn now!

During the drama of the 60s and 70’s there was a common saying: “If you’re not part of the solution then you’re part of the problem.”

It’s not enough to just fight what’s bad. We have to proactively produce what’s good. Politics isn’t just about saying “No” to what we don’t want; it’s a collective action to create a better world. What isn’t getting better is getting worse. It’s ours to decide which it will be.

What do you call the tens of thousands of people who have died unnecessarily of Covid in this country? The tens of millions of people who are suffering its economic effects now? Neglecting to help someone when you have the authority to do so is as criminal as trying to harm them.

I agree with that. This problem will be with us after November regardless who wins. But we can at least begin having a sophisticated conversation about it, and stop pretending it can be treated on the level of symptom alone.

Interesting point. As soon as we acquiesced to an amoral economic system, immoral results became inevitable. Neoliberalism’s moral neutrality made way for all manner of evil. If you don’t take a stand for justice, injustice will find its way to you.

This is such an important conversation and it’s difficult to have on Twitter. But I’ll try. Will come back to this. I promise.

2/ Trump knows what they are & exploits them masterfully. Establishment Dems don’t have a clue what they are, think rolling their eyes is an adequate response & view themselves as too sophisticated to have to deign to deal with. Disastrous in ‘16; we must awaken if to win in ‘20.

1/ When I talked on the debate stage about “dark psychic forces,” it’s not just that I wasn’t crazy. I wasn’t wrong. The pathological energies roiling underneath the surface of the Trump phenomenon haven’t even begun to show their full force yet.

I don’t think it sends a wrong message at all. It’s just not the message that you like:)

THANK YOU!
A long-shot candidate is only a long-shot candidate until they aren't, and the more long-shots who actually win, the more long-shots will run, and that's when we have a true political movement on our hands that overturns everything we think we know about who can win and who can't
