What you can say about my candidacy is that I was saying everything then that I’m saying now. But a tsunami of “she’s-a-wacko-crystal-lady-so-you-can’t possibly-take-her-seriously” wasn’t being strategically thrown like dust into the eyes of those who otherwise might have seen it

Yes. They will always come up with excuses...there will always be a reason why “not now.” Our job is to say “Yes, now!” and to elect the people who make it happen.
Somebody said the other day, "You don't have to change the whole healthcare system in the middle of a pandemic!" But we changed slavery in the midst of slavery. We changed Jim Crow in the midst of Jim Crow. That's when you change. That's when you're supposed to change!

I agree with that. But so is any contemporary progressive. We don’t have to look into the past to find millions of people who are appropriately outraged at the economic injustice that now defines our time and place.

I’m not sure how old you are, but there’s a good chance I was reading such things even before you were born:)

I agree that we should have a wealth tax, and that the tax rates for the very rich are obscenely low.

I don’t say that at all. I just say “Elect Ed Markey”

We shouldn’t suppress their rights. But we should definitely expose their lies.

No, Mr. President. We have an alertness to anti-Semitic tropes that runs through our psyches like constant whispers from our ancestors. We. see. you.

3/ People have an instinctive way of knowing when somebody’s not telling the real truth. If you don’t provide the space for radically genuine truth-telling, people become vulnerable to conspiratorial lies.

2/ People are hardwired for dedication to tribe. If you don’t provide a genuinely patriotic conversation, people become more vulnerable to a nationalistic version.

1/ People are hardwired for connection to a higher power. If you don’t provide a genuine spiritual conversation, people become more vulnerable to a counterfeit version.

Down-ballot races should be an absolute focus of progressive activism now. There are some fabulous candidates and they deserve our support.

We have a representative democracy and we have a republic. Having one doesn’t mean we don’t have the other.

I’m excited to endorse Jennifer Christie @JenniferForIN5 , the only progressive running for the highly contested open seat in #IN05. She’s a scientist and mother of 4, both things we need more of in Congress! Let’s seriously support her.secure.actblue.com/donate/ma…
