What’s foolish is to think we can withstand a never-ending cascade of calamities forever. What’s foolish is to think we can afford to not change.

What’s immature and naive is to think we can NOT make those changes, and survive as a species for another 100 years.

No. People didn’t “all of a sudden decide.” As a society we’ve come to understand what a huge mistake we made making it so hard for people to get educated, and we want to right the error.

Not just that we should shift from economic to humanitarian bottom line; WE SHOULD SHOUT IT OUT LOUD. Not just that we should shift from dirty to clean economy; WE SHOULD SHOUT IT OUT LOUD. Not just that we should shift from war to peace economy. WE SHOULD SHOUT IT OUT LOUD. NOW!

2/ In 1944 FDR proposed a 2nd Bill of Rights: every American has right to job, adequate wage & decent living, decent home, medical care, economic protection due to sickness, accident, age or unemployment, good education. That's how far Dems have drifted. Dems should work on that.

1/ In 1970, Nixon established the Environmental Protection Agency. In 1986, Reagan gave 3 million undocumented workers amnesty. That's how far the Republican party has drifted from its principles and its soul. Republicans should work on that.

STOP oil & gas ($20B/yr) and other corporate subsidies. REPEAL the 2017 $2T tax cut that gave $0.83 of every $ to richest people/corporations (put back middle class cuts). REDUCE military spending to what the military says it needs, not just what defense contractors say they want

I like this video. I believed it then and I believe it now.
"We should shift from an economic bottom line to a humanitarian bottom line." @marwilliamson #UBI, $15 minimum wage, a #GND, college loan forgiveness, free state and local college, universal health care. Read Williamson's plan for the American economy: marianne2020.com/issues/the-…

I don't think my previous stance was wrong; I simply believe the pandemic takes things to a different place.

I supported UBI during my campaign and I still do. Now, because of the pandemic, people should get $2k/mo until it's over then $1k/mo after that. My point was how some people seem to think the $1k/mo UBI is going to fix all economic injustice - when actually it's just a start.

Why should we have single payer healthcare? So people can thrive. Why should we have tuition free higher education? So people can thrive. Why should we remove the college loan debt? So people can thrive. How can we create a great economy? Help people thrive.
