What I saw as a candidate makes me think that everyday Americans COULD make a difference, but way too many are easily duped into thinking and acting the way the system dictates. The manipulation of information is outrageous, but most of us could think for ourselves a bit more.

I don't agree with that. Those to whom you refer campaign as progressives and legislate as centrists. There IS a difference, and to me it's a big one.

Because Trump is so dangerous. I see the political parties like two broken arms & two broken legs, but the Trump administration like a bullet near the heart. First things first. If we let Trump win again, we'll have a harder time dealing with the broken arms and legs. Much harder

3/ It's not just traditional political & economic resistance to change, or even $ in politics that's the problem. It's old thinking, our resistance to change, & our codependent relationship with a system that has failed us miserably but rewarded us just enough to keep us seduced.

2/ When this phase of the crisis ends we'll need to hit the ground running."This phase" because COVID is part of a rolling planetary crisis that's simply begun to reveal itself to more people. We have solutions & the problem-solvers; we need to turn solutions into political force

1/ We're living at a time of planetary emergency, when we urgently need to address climate change, wealth and gender equality, sustainable agriculture, nuclear power, science, AI and more in ways that should have been addressed systemically for the last 25 years.

Think what the world would look like if we actually knew that everything we do to others we’re really doing to ourselves. “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you” because they will… and if they don’t, then someone else will! It’s called the Golden Rule for a reason.

3/ Every problem comes bearing its own solution. The recognition of our common vulnerability is frightening but also liberating, both reminding us of our fragility and paving the way to a better world.

1/ COVID reminds us we’re not just groups of people pieced together, we’re one country. And we’re not just groups of countries pieced together, we’re one world. When all this is over we’ll need to remember that.

Exactly. With our values we should never compromise. But we do need to remember that there are people who share our values but who disagree with us politically. That’s why vision is something with which we should never compromise, but politics is something where we often must.

First we have to make sure Donald Trump does not get a second term. Then there will be many many questions, a lot of dialogue, and we will find our way…

Jeff Flake on Trumpism: ‘I don’t know anyone who thinks that this is the future of the party.” An interesting interview about the Republican party. Both parties need their soul back...hopefully sooner rather than later. washingtonpost.com/lifestyle…
