If you’ve made it into the club in America - if you’re within the circle of institutional compassion either through luck or finance - then no place could be better. The critical problem in America today is that not enough people can make it into the club. Not enough get a chance.

To stand up for the most traditional pillars of American democracy - from freedom of speech to justice for our citizens to electoral integrity - is to risk being labeled a left wing extremist. The biggest challenge in America today is to avoid the temptation to simply give up.

Absolutely might be true. Though I don’t think it makes the employers look bad in this case; it makes our supply chain look inadequate.

What I’m wondering is whether the White House is putting pressure on hospitals to get them to rein in their employees. To the Trump administration doctors and nurses complaining publicly would be seen as “leaks” that contradict their official story. Beware control of information!

You’re right. Theoretically they’re protected. But look at what that would mean on a practical basis for a doctor or nurse. It would mean they’d have no income, they’d need a union or to hire a lawyer to represent them etc. It would be extremely hard to fight that system.

Exactly. Doctors and nurses talking to the press, posting online etc. are where we’re getting some of our clearest information about what’s really happening. No one and nothing should in any way limit or censor their ability to tell the public their stories. This is AMERICA.

Two different realities coexist during this pandemic. One is physically, politically & economically devastating; while the other is a forced period of reflection which has already born fruit in the form of reminding us we’re one human family, connected with nature and each other

You see the signs in progressive candidates who support those kinds of policies - and there are many. But if people don’t support those candidates then it simply doesn’t happen.
