The flu kills almost 500k a year at highest estimate. But the RATE of infection and the rate of mortality is what’s important. Static numbers mean nothing. And we are still closing in on 200k and that’s WITH the world on lockdown.

MLK Jr. said we need “quantitative shifts in our circumstances as well as qualitative shifts in our souls.” We need internal as well as external levels of change. An integrative approach heals society, just as an integrative approach heals the body. youtube.com/MvRAwKu0QIE

In about fifteen minutes - at noon NYC - people all over the world will stop for five minutes of silence/prayer/meditation. Continuing longer for some. Spread the word.

Start in your own congressional district and state. See who the actual progressive candidates are in your primaries. Also: secure.actblue.com/donate/ma…

You still haven’t figured all that out, huh?

The opposite is true. People who are chronically worried about healthcare, education and college loans can’t access their creativity and productivity the way they would naturally do if those burdens were off their back.

We’re in debt as we are because we no longer tax corporations fairly but rather give them play money for no reason other than that they hold undue influence in Congress. And because we keep too many people at near-survival, thus unable to express their creativity and productivity

Wouldn’t that take a level of coordination that doesn’t exist? And I didn’t have people around me that I knew, suffering from the swine flu. Aren’t the smaller numbers now BECAUSE of the efforts you decry?

A “real one?” Such talk is very irresponsible, not to mention extremely unrealistic. An effort such as you are recommending would be met with a show of overwhelming force that’s completely unacceptable to contemplate. We must not go there. We must be peaceful, non-violent & wise.

Many very good progressives are running for congressional and senatorial seats all over the country. Start with these. Also check out your own state. These primaries matter!! secure.actblue.com/donate/ma…

5/ When the pandemic is over we need a wave of citizen activism unlike anything we’ve seen in this country in a very very long time. Local. State. Federal. It’s the one thing they fear. Override every effort at voter suppression. It will take time but we can turn the ship around.

We just need to get the money out of politics. At this point it’s unreasonable to think we’re going to be able to overturn Citizens United anytime soon, so we need a constitutional amendment establishing public funding for federal campaigns.

That’s not what I’m suggesting at all. I’m suggesting a massive wave of citizen activism on local, state and federal levels. It’s not about marching in the streets (they actually don’t care about that), it’s about marching to the polls.

With all the people suffering and dying the way they are, how do you call this a fake pandemic?
