I’m certainly not a communist. But a healthcare system that is easily accessible to a few Americans and so painfully inaccessible to tens of millions is not a system that works properly. And nothing could be less Course than to tell someone they’re a disgrace to the Course. Lol🙄

Right now, with the coronavirus, you would have healthcare denied to people because they’re not “legal?” The virus obviously does not care. So you would prefer that people be out and about spreading the virus, but you would call that common sense?

Absolutely true. It’s now a political/media industrial complex.

I experienced my own microcosm of that. I am well aware of the depth of the problem.

There are many progressives who have been pushed out. Alan Grayson and Dennis Kucinich are examples.

Our problem among other things is that there’s no force with major political leverage willing to question the fundamental premise on which the system operates. That used to be the Democratic Party and hopefully it will be again. Right now it’s only lone voices; that’s not enough

FDR said “I’m not destroying capitalism. I’m saving it.” You can’t sustain a free market when it becomes unfree for the majority of people. You can’t be a capitalist when you have no access to capital! Too many Americans are locked out of the party; it’s immoral & unsustainable.

Even Adam Smith, main architect of free market capitalism, said it couldn’t exist outside an ethical context. He never foresaw capitalism untied to any govt regulation. Capitalism will reclaim an ethical & moral center or a younger generation of Americans will replace it entirely

Tell me what you would prefer. That I pour pink paint over the wound and call that “staying positive?” That I ignore suffering and injustice and call it “being spiritual?” Were the Biblical prophets “jaded?”

I did some. But many weren’t interested; they considered me the “crystal lady.” Others apparently tried to get interviews and unbeknownst to me were turned down.

This is very true.
I've changed my mind about progressive politicians appearing on independent news shows like mine. Let me explain why. A thread: I once thought our shows were just echo chambers that wouldn't help politicians reach the broad audience that MSM has/it didn't matter, but... 1/9

Right now the most important leader is the small still voice within. This period of forced pause and reflection is actually helpful. We need to think. To atone. To mature in our analysis and deepen in our spirits. Something amazing is incubating in our hearts and in our society.

We're in an incubation period. Gathering experience, data, watching the plot unfold, seeing how the system operates. Good things will happen if we make ourselves available to the effort. Our quality of personhood is as important as our strategy: committed, dedicated, non-violent.

I think each person is endowed with an innate wisdom. If we're committed to the change that has to happen, and committed to non-violence, then we'll know what part is ours to play and others will show up in our lives to do it with us.
