Covid-19 is a threat, but no more than our collective behavior in several other areas too. This might actually be saving us, motivating us to look at the ways we’re just as unprepared for other kinds of disasters. Our greatest power to change the world is our power to rethink it.

It’s not just the powerless. It’s anyone who doesn’t agree with their worldview.

This is a perfect time for us to be thinking through things like this. Sometimes we need to think about what’s happening at a deeper level or things keep happening the way they’ve been happening from sheer inertia. This feels to me like one of those times for us collectively.

Govt can invest in low cost housing. Govt can subsidize food services in places that are "food deserts." None of this is as complex as some make it sound. We know what to do to provide greater opportunity for people, but we do more to fund problem creators than problem solvers.

I can wish him well without agreeing with his policies; he's a president, not a king. We're told by God we have to love each other, but not that we have to agree with each other. And sometimes love says "No." There's nothing holy about complacency in the face of danger.

We need to create public policy (food and housing are examples) guided by humanitarian principle. Because of the under influence of money on our political system, our guiding principle now is short term corporate profit. It should instead be whatever helps people thrive.

The issue isn't that our economic system is immoral; it's that it's amoral. And amoral behavior leads to immoral consequences. It's not enough to not wish people harm; we have to wish people well. We have to be willing to help. Love is proactive & practical, or it's just a word.

When a species acts in a way maladaptive to its survival, it either mutates or it goes extinct. Evolution 101. Humanity's collective behavior is now maladaptive for our survival. We'll either mutate from an economically to a humanitarian driven species, or we too will go extinct.
