That’s simply not true. The Defense Production Act gives the president the right to direct manufacturing. Instead, we are going with what’s available. It’s not “placing blame” to point this out. People are dying unnecessarily. Let’s be adults here.

This is happening for one reason only: that the president has refused to use the Defense Production Act to direct the manufacture of all needed equipment. Says the federal govt isn't a "shipping clerk," doesn't want to tell the business sector what to do. It's borderline criminal
My hands are shaking i can’t type. A nurse at my elmhurst hospital who i don’t know just called me crying. She said they need vents but more so need doctors and also doctors who are ICU trained. She told me they cry everyday bc they know they’re gonna die. They’re begging. Please

I'd argue that what's wrong with our side of the aisle sometimes is that we do "hold the complexity." What's most deeply true is not complex at all. Providing the means of survival for those who have nothing should come before providing comfort for those who have everything.

I'm more skeptical. "Congress will likely need to" doesn't mean they necessarily will & they probably won't if only the invisible are suffering.I too wish it put more $ directly into people's hands - a lot more. It's basically safety for a few, just barely surviving for too many.
Glad that Congress has passed the stimulus package as people need it. I wish it went further and put more money directly into people’s hands. Congress will likely need to pass an additional stimulus soon as this crisis continues and doors remain closed.

Spiritual clarity is often as helpful as scientific clarity & is in no way antithetical to it. Would you say that to the Pope? A Buddhist monk? A Jewish rabbi? Regarding my “past statements” what exactly am I to be ashamed of? That I suggested we pray, or that we love each other?

Many of them are not corrupt and do not fail you every day. Many of them are filled with good, hard-working people who keep you safe in ways you don’t even realize. Demonizing government, withdrawing resources from its proper functioning, is part of how we got here.

What should change at the end of all this? We should have a Dept of Peace to help avoid disasters. We should have a Dept of Children & Youth to help avoid disasters. We should have a Green New Deal to help avoid disasters. We should pay reparations to help end ongoing disasters.

The problem isn’t inherit in capitalism. Starting in the 1980s American capitalism became untethered to a sense of ethical or moral responsibility to people or planet, then govt became its handmaiden.Both now need a moral course-correction before predatory capitalism destroys us
