Kudos to Andrew Cuomo (something that under normal circumstances I never thought I would say). When people say, “Well what would you have Trump do??” The answer is, “What Cuomo is saying.” He’s on top of it, he’s strong, he’s got the tone of a leader. He’s found his inner Mario.

In many ways, apparently yes. Our own economic order left us vulnerable, however, by depleting resources that exist for no other purpose than guaranteeing our safety in the midst of a storm.

That’s exactly what they’re doing.

When media says Trump deciding between saving lives or saving our economic order, be very clear: our “economic order” contributed to this and this is the perfect time to reinvent it! For the majority, an economic order that does not value people first creates not order but chaos.

I used this image from the Titanic a couple of days ago and a writer hates to repeat herself, but it bears repeating: what we’re going through now is the upper class passengers trying to lock in the people in steerage so that only they could get the available lifeboats.

Exactly! That’s why I said, “if we use this as a moment of awakening.”

In the short run, Americans are being forced to buck up. In the middle run, we’re going to experience things we thought we we’d get to escape in our generation. In the long run, this country is going to be better than ever - if we use this as our moment of awakening.

Economics separated from human conscience, just like government separated from conscience, is a collective pathology. A sociopathic economic system backed by governmental force is fascism. Citizens too naive or distracted to look at all that is a tragedy.

We’re not talking about companies that would be going under. It’s fine to give money to companies if it’s specifically for wages! But that is not what’s happening here. Companies with billions of dollars sitting there don’t need help; people with no food in the refrigerator do.

Politicians who would vote to financially prop up industries that already have a cushion, yet withhold resources from the sick and for those who would care for them, are accomplices in a crime against humanity.

Now THIS is pathological. The kids don't need his version of a "saved economy." What those kids need is their grandparents.
Texas Lt. Gov Dan Patrick has said on Fox New that "lots of" grandparents would be willing to die in order in to save the economy for their grandchildren axios.com/coronavirus-texas-…

What’s seen in Europe as a middle-of-the-road perspective on how Western civilization should organize itself has been painted by the right wing in America as far left radicalism. It isn’t. Suggesting that people’s ability to thrive should be our bottom line is simply common sense

Our leadership will literally risk people dying before it will risk in any way impinging on free market laissez-faire economics. Capitalism without conscience has become a false god in America - and now, not later, is the time to correct course. nytimes.com/2020/03/22/us/po…

Democrats should not be standing for “a little bit of help.” We should be standing for fundamental change: All college loan debt removed. $2000 immediately to everyone, for every month while this lasts. We don’t ask for too much; we ask for too little.
