I certainly agree that we need to do everything possible to defeat him in November.

But that’s what govt is for: to regulate those forces. It’s when corporate money begin wielding an undue influence on govt that rules and regulations were thrown away. We have always pushed back against overreach by capitalism, e. child labor laws, unions, etc. And we need to now

None of this conversation denies that or glorifies them.

I don’t see it that way. I don’t think it’s naïve to believe capitalism centered in ethical values has done a lot of good on the planet. But without ethical values - disconnected from conscience - global capitalism has become a scourge.

Gandhi’s and King’s movements were successful. And Gandhi had no violent alternative.

Until we proactively wage peace, there will be danger. Until we proactively heal the earth, there will be danger. Until we proactively care for each other, there will be danger. Perhaps it all seemed too theoretical before. Now, does the word “danger” seem real enough...?

He was referring to slavery and the Civil War was the blood-letting. We cannot, must not, will not go that direction now. Think Gandhi, think King, think love.

An unholy alliance of capitalism without a conscience & government without a soul has led us to the precipice. This crisis though painful is an important wake-up call. Ethics not greed must be the light that guides us & humanitarian not economic principle must be our bottom line.

Politics that lacks a moral dimension can never solve society’s problem because it doesn’t address its origin. When capitalism disconnected from its ethical center, permitted to operate along strictly amoral lines, humanity became vulnerable in ways we had never been before.

Our lack of preparedness a direct result of political & economic system that for years has withheld investment in the public good. Lack of healthcare & manufacturing & resources for science & public health -all in the name of an economic ideology that has corrupted America’s soul
