So you know that fear you have that maybe something bad could happen and you could die from it? That’s what millions of American children think about every single day, there is so much gun violence in their schools and in their neighborhoods. #letitchangeyou

You don’t really need a crisis to teach you that:)

The thing about a crisis is that it makes you drop a lot of ultimately unimportant preoccupations within the first 10 minutes. Can make you drop into a deeper place within yourself...making you more open to meaning, to literature, to art, to truth, to other people, to compassion.

So are you starting to see how it works now?

You said it, Ana. Character assassination is now the preferred way to rid the system of anyone deemed inconvenient to its functioning. What’s ironic is how often journalist/assassins are so duped they think they’re revealing truth rather than doing the bidding of their masters.

Every American would do well to realize that widespread terror, wondering who will live and who will die, is exactly what the citizens of Baghdad felt when we invaded them. Let this experience not be meaningless. Let our suffering give us x-ray vision into the suffering of others

Start with the people around you. Are there older people you should call? Are your own older relatives OK? Is there anyone you know who is sick and needs your help?

Even with social distancing, staying home as much as possible to help with containment, there will be ways we can help people online. Local govts will need people to man hotlines, share information, all kinds of things we don’t even know about yet. Embrace an attitude of service.

One of the most important jobs now is that of mayor. Small town as well as big city mayors will have a tremendous amount work to do. If it feels right, call your mayor’s office and tell them you want to volunteer to help. You’ll be surprised at the ways volunteers will be needed.

I don’t believe God created this virus, but I do believe He is present in every situation. Even this can be used for a greater good, if we allow it to open our hearts to one another.

I’m so sorry. I’m also very happy to hear that you have a home and an aide. You’re in my prayers.

Even if they aren’t sick, they might be terrified of going out and will still need food.

Yes, I founded an organization in Los Angeles called Project Angel Food. It has served 12 million meals now, and I’m sure the current leadership will do great things to show up for this crisis.

You might want to start some kind of a blog or support group. Many elderly people are online and could really use some peer support.

One of the ways to dissolve the panic is to begin immediately to provide solutions. Mayors should set up 2 kinds of hotlines: 1 for people who need to receive help, and a 2nd for people who want to provide help. Once we’re joined in that kind of consciousness answers will appear.

I hear that. But there will be a way of delivering food to people that doesn’t involve risky contact.

Your community did as much for me as I did for them. It was a love affair that still brings tears to my eyes.

One of the things I’m most worried about is elderly people in their homes alone who wouldn’t have anyone to bring them food if they get sick. If you’re young & healthy, one of the best things you can do for yourself is to start thinking about how you might help someone who’s not.
