Bottom line in govt policy shouldn’t be whatever serves corporate profit. It should be whatever serves people & their ability to thrive. Shift from economic to humanitarian bottom line invigorates people AND invigorates the economy because more people will be able to participate!

In the richest, most powerful democracy in the world there should not be so many economically desperate people. Low unemployment rates mask the deeper reality of almost 40 million people living in poverty. An incremental approach to fixing this is morally wrong. We can fix it now

No, I did not characterize the vote as a coup. I characterized what happened the night before as a coup, which is very different. I deleted the tweet because the language was incendiary for many people and just got in the way of helpful conversation.

When things are disappointing on the outside, the key to transforming them lies on the inside. Anger and fear can be aroused by external events, but if we feel the sadness and ask how we might be even better going forward then they can make us even stronger than we were before.

By doing exactly what you’re doing. We’re expressing ourselves and we’re finding each other. It’s like Churchill said: “It’s not the end, it’s not even the beginning of the end. But it’s the end of the beginning.” We’re going to get up tomorrow & take the next step on the journey

Whether transforming your life or transforming the world, the process takes stamina. The journey isn’t always pleasant. Things are revealed that are painful to look at. Things have to come up in order to be released. But the key is staying present with the process. We’ll all rise

Elite Republicans don’t respect democracy; elite Democrats don’t trust democracy. Real power in the hands of the people is a threat that neither of them can abide.

It wasn’t the vote today that I referred to. It was what happened yesterday.

Dana Bash said tonight that the moderate lane “organically” fell into place behind Biden today. No it did not. What happened was the result of a strategized, orchestrated plan to block someone deemed inconvenient to the political establishment.

“The 2017 $2 trillion tax cut that gave $.83 of every dollar to the richest Americans is never going to pay for itself. We only let the question of ‘how we’re going to pay for it’ stop us is when it’s something that would actually help the American people.”

“American capitalism has become untethered to ethical and moral consideration for people and planet, and our government has become a handmaiden to those forces. It’s a little more than a system of legalized bribery.”
