Just so we’re clear about numbers here: 13 million children in America are hungry; 100,000 children in America are homeless; millions of American children can’t learn to read by the age of 8, w/ therefore lowered chance of high school graduation & greater chance of incarceration.

We need a US Dept of Children & Youth. Chronic trauma of millions of American children is beyond anything our current infrastructure - Dept of Ed, HHS etc. - can absorb. Here was my plan:marianne2020.com/issues/plan…

Not every cage has visible walls but the people within it are still caged. For a child, poverty is a cage. For a child, hunger is a cage. For a child, illiteracy is a cage.Silent emergencies are just as important as screaming ones. Millions of American children are silently caged

At CNN Town Halls tonight there were questions about children in cages. There are even more: every child living in a domestic war zone is also in a cage. Every child we fail to teach to read by the age of 8 is living in a cage. Every child who’s hungry & unfed is living in a cage

If I had said it, there'd be jokes about my being on acid. And I would never have said it.

You seem to have an inaccurate impression of my position. All best wishes for your partner’s swift recovery...

Dear @jaredkushner, Your father-in-law now referring to his political opponents as “evil” and as “non-persons.” Just wondering if this triggers you as it triggers me... given we were raised to ”Never Forget” and all. Awaiting your response, Your fellow proud - and troubled - Jew.

Regardless who the candidate is, the 2020 election will not just be a political contest. It will be psychological, emotional and spiritual. Trump plays all those cords - and so will we, if we want to win.

That’s why it’s so important for those who do have money and do have power to step it up, and do more for those who don’t.

I agree with that. Moral outrage isn’t born of anger, it’s born of love. Love doesn’t make us less sophisticated in our political understanding. It doesn’t mean we’re less intelligent. At times though it means we’re more strategic.

Hating the haters just makes you a hater. I was always impressed by FDR’s name for the Nazis: “those unworthy men.” We can do what we do out of love for our country, not personal hate for anyone. It makes a difference in the tenor of a movement & how it comes across to the world.
