This article contains some good fact-checks from the speech last night. The actual facts speak for themselves and we need to keep repeating them. We can’t fight dog whistles directly; we have to drown them out with a symphony of truth. Each of us can help.m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5…

I’m hardly timid. I ran for president, remember? And it’s not like we’ve ever acted as though love would solve much of anything. I never said not to call out the lies. We absolutely must, but we can do that with dignity and without personal insult.

You miss my point. I’m a human being and I do feel outrage at the lies, the lawlessness, the authoritarian tendencies. But emotional discipline means you don’t always act on every emotion. You make a higher choice in how to express yourself. That’s not a ruse; it’s maturity

I do have respect for high minded conservatives. I do not see the president as a conservative, however. Many conservatives as well as liberals see him as a threat to our liberty. I recommend “A Warning” by Anonymous, written by a high-ranking Trump official.

But we must also be smart. We do need to stand up to totalitarianism with every ounce of our being but we need to be psychologically astute regarding the nature of the opponent. It is very wily, and the game is not just being played on the level of external traditional politics.

Last night was a taste of what this year will be. What he says will be so galling but do not take the bait. All of us must become excellent fact-checkers. Take every opportunity to tell the truth. For every lie he tells, tell the truth at least 5 times but with dignity & decency.

For reasons I don’t understand, anger on the left more frightening to many people than anger on the right. It makes no sense since we’re not the ones carrying guns. But no matter what he does, those who resist him must practice more emotional discipline & adopt a more soulful way

I totally understand not showing up for the speech; I totally understand walking out on the speech; I totally understand ripping up the speech. I have those feelings too. But none of those things will help us win in 2020. All of them will turn off voters we need if we’re to win.

“Agency capture” is when agencies set up to advocate for the health and well-being of the American people instead transition into advocacy for the very forces whose overreach they were set up to protect us from. Today’s EPA is an example.m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5…

All jokes aside, this is no joke. He will not be easy to beat. Each and every one of us must work very, very hard this year.

Rush Limbaugh just received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Anyone who doesn’t believe in alternative universes totally has to believe in them now.

In a healthy democracy, Tom Perez would resign today. (As it is the results will probably never be fully determined, the DNC attitude will be “They’ll get over it,” and the entire incident will hang like a cloud of uncertainty over the entire campaign.)

Did Pete Buttigieg just claim victory in Iowa when the results haven’t been announced yet?
