It shouldn't have to be a danger for anyone.

The love that will save the world is not just love for our own children, but also love for children on the other side of town & the other side of the world. The love that will save the world isn't just love for our own home, but for the earth itself which is the home we all share

We have bigger problems than that right now. Let's not use the debt as an excuse for not showing up for each other. Taxing corporations and the wealthiest Americans would help with that, by the way.

America collectively neglects our children. From 13 million hungry children, tens of thousands of homeless ones, and millions of chronically traumatized ones, their lack of financial leverage leaves them at the bottom of America's totem pole. newsweek.com/marianne-willia…

Whether we ourselves have children or not is not what matters. There's a point in the maturation process where the lives of generations that come after us should be of urgent concern. And particularly those of children, who have no way to advocate for their interests unless we do

Why is that in the public health interest? It seems to me that what’s in the public health interest is to contain this virus, not create new situations where it can be spread. Think of pics of beaches we’ve seen that turned out to be super spreaders. That’s what schools will be.

The countries safely re-opening their schools are countries that have gotten the virus under control. We clearly have not. Our children and teachers should not be guinea pigs in a risky experiment yet school districts are being told they won’t receive money if they don’t re-open.

They can safely re-open in countries that have the virus under control. That’s the point! We do not.

Oh no it’s not. “Mommy am I going to die?” is not a question a parent wants to hear every morning.

I can’t either, although we’re not gonna shut up and acquiesce to a corporatist agenda if they try to govern that way.

That study says they transmit the virus just like adults! That’s the point. This is an infectious disease, and they are going to be in enclosed classrooms for hours each day.

This is how I feel. We are setting children up for a lifetime of trauma if they go to school, then transmit Covid to a parent or grandparent who dies because of it. Call your Congresspeople and senators 202-224-3121. I fear a terrible wave is coming our way, tho I hope I’m wrong.

Yesterday, my student’s father died of Covid. Her dad had quarantined since the beginning. My student was asymptomatic. She infected him. That child will never get over the fact that she was the cause of his death. This will be the norm if they open schools reopen.

It’s not about individual billionaires. It’s about health insurance companies and Big Pharma.

If people had free healthcare think of all the more discretionary spending they could do. Think how much healthier and happier they would be at work, how much more productive & less stressed they would be. All that means money. That is how we would pay for it.

We’re not ready to safely re-open the schools. We should not be doing this. Pass it on. #StandWithChildren nytimes.com/2020/07/30/healt…
