I think we all need to get more in the habit of responding to them, though. We need to provide a narrative based on truth to counter one that is based on lies. They are proactive proclaiming their narrative and we need to be proactive proclaiming ours.

Talk to the people who got shot with rubber bullets and ask how long it will take them to recover. For that matter, ask how long those grieving for family members who died from Covid will recover. $ spent on a fed invasion would have been better spent on measures to defeat Covid.

A few criminals trying to set fire to a courthouse was something for the local police to handle. If the mayor or governor had wanted help from the feds they could have asked for it. It was not justification for a federal invasion, which exacerbated but did not quell the violence.

Okay. Lay it out for me. What could my “motives” be? And how is it patronizing for me to tell people who were willing to put themselves out there night and night that they were was an inspiration to me and others? I feel like the patronizing one is you towards me.

No, it was not 90% unemployed and drug users. You just kind of pulled that out of a hat! It was 90% just regular Americans who demanded justice and wanted the feds to go home.

People were teargassed, pepper sprayed and shot with rubber bullets who had not been told to get back or move away. And they had not thrown things at buildings.

Those thousands of people every night were not destroying property or starting fires. The few who had been were handled by local officials; it did not call for the feds to come in. That only incited more violence. What was accomplished? The people of Portland stood up to tyranny.

This article is a good explanation of the tear gas issue and how it played out in Portland. All of us should be aware. oregonlive.com/portland/2020…

They demonstrated that Americans will stand up to tyranny. And that is no small thing.

A moment of thanks and congratulations to thousands of people in Portland who took a stand for justice this past two weeks, often at great risk to your own safety. You created a template for others and did the entire country a favor. Deep bow, and job well done. #PortlandProtest
