Someone really has to put this in a time capsule and send it into outer space. USA 2020.

This isn’t a burglar who waits till you’re gone & then breaks in. It’s more like someone who was already at your house & starts stealing things in front of your eyes. You’re shocked, but something tells you to act quickly & bar the room to where you keep your most precious things
U.S. Postal Service workers say the new Postmaster General's cost-cutting measures have led to disruptions in mail delivery. Washington state's top election official says "we're running out of time" to overcome that. "We absolutely need Congress to act." trib.al/pGaY4XG

No I didn’t, but I’m playing with you. I’m a writer and I love words. I write for what feels like the creativity of it. I don’t want to trade a beautiful word for something simpler just to “reach more people.” Shakespeare did okay.

Even before the pandemic there were roughly 40,000,000 hungry Americans. Now there are more. Meanwhile, American billionaires have become $434 billion richer during the pandemic. Something is wrong.cnbc.com/2020/07/23/millions…

No, it does not work every time. There are people in this country locked out by the time they’re eight years old, denied the minimum opportunity for education or to make something of their lives. You can’t tell someone with no boots to pick themselves up by their bootstraps.

I read that Sweden had to change course...

It’s yin and yang. Conservatives remind progressives that individuals must be held accountable, and progressives remind conservatives that systems must be held accountable. Both are true.

That depends on who you are. This country says yes to a lot of people -I know because it has said yes to me. The problem is that it says yes to a shrinking number of people, and no to an increasing number of people. So we need to turn that around.

It’s just a point in the journey. Sometimes it’s two steps forward and one step backwards, sometimes one step forward and two steps backwards, but we’re not screwed permanently unless we throw up our hands.

Support every possible down-ballot progressive in the primaries (progressivecandidatesummit.c…), focus intently on overturning the Trump machine on November 3 and prepare to be a progressive activist as of November 4.

Americans are now pathologically habituated to asking “Pretty please?” for things that can literally mean the difference between life and death, from a system that’s pathologically habituated to telling them no as often as it says yes. And only the people can change this.

Who do you think is paying for those extraordinary corporate bailouts to hedge funds and private jet companies etc? This bailout is like the 2008 bailout on steroids: bail out Wall Street, leave Main Street to fend for itself.

The countries that have opened their schools successfully are countries that had the virus under control. There is no sign that ours will be under control by September or even October.

This doesn’t have to be long term, and wouldn’t have been had we done the right thing at the beginning.

I am a mom, and telling me my child might have a few months off from learning geography & math is 1000 times less worrisome than telling me she’s going to be in a petri dish of a deadly virus every day,

You quite twisted what I was saying, but then you know that.

1/Re-opening schools before we have the virus under control is immoral and insane. We’re exposing American families to danger for no other reason than to serve the sacred cow of an economy that doesn’t really work for them anyway. #SupportKidsAndTeachers
