Yes, and we are dishonoring our ancestors when we fail to acknowledge how many sacrificed even to the point of sacrificing their lives to make sure it did.

No, it’s about a renewal of citizenship, our recognizing that in the absence of our participation our institutions have been corrupted. The same Dec of Independence that said govt is here to secure our rights says we have the right to alter or abolish it if it’s not doing its job

This idea is radical. It has always been radical. It is the radicalism of the American experiment. We need to hold it in our hearts with radical devotion and radical commitment and refusal to let it go: THE GOVERNMENT’S PURPOSE IS TO SERVE THE PEOPLE.

And why exactly do legal protesters DESERVE the “powerful FORCE of our great police officers?” Because you disagree with them politically? You realize the point of freedom is that we don’t all have to think alike, right?

Consciously or unconsciously, they use stylistic elements to camouflage their malevolent intent. That’s why.

Let’s stop pretending that any one incident isn’t part of a larger pattern, okay? Our government is being run by a group of lawless thugs. I don’t care how many of them went to Harvard and I don’t care how many of them wear Armani suits. They are a small group of lawless thugs.

No, I meant thugs. And unfortunately a few of them are not morons at all.

I don’t mean to be cynical & memorials like this are important. But many people honoring John Lewis today did things that caused him great consternation while he was here. Celebrating people once they’re dead is easy enough; honoring their ideals while we’re alive can take work.

Read this and perhaps read it again. May he rest in peace and may we rise in power. It’s our turn to take it from here... nytimes.com/2020/07/30/opini…

No we will not.
Donald Trump is lying. Voting by mail is safe and legitimate. We cannot and will not let this authoritarian criminal delay our election, undermine our democracy, and silence the American people.

THANK YOU. Everybody needs to memorize this statistic because you might actually have to repeat it to some people in the weeks ahead.
In the midst of a civil war, one that for Americans was the deadliest armed conflict in history, 150,000 Union soldiers voted by mail in 1864. Their votes helped ensure the re-election of President Abraham Lincoln, the preservation of the nation, and the end of slavery.

The fact that he is so obvious, so predictable, does not make him any less dangerous. He is intent on causing the kind of violence on which he will predicate the need to postpone the election.
Kate Brown, Governor of Oregon, isn’t doing her job. She must clear out, and in some cases arrest, the Anarchists & Agitators in Portland. If she can’t do it, the Federal Government will do it for her. We will not be leaving until there is safety!
