There’s been a dysfunctional power inversion in the last few decades, too many people forgetting we’re the boss & that govt. officials work for us. We’ve lost the mental habit of running this place & it’s time to reclaim it. It’s called citizenship. A citizen is not a supplicant.

Our Founders carefully constructed Constitutional levies that would protect us from a dictator. Unless something unexpected happens in the Senate tomorrow, it’s time to realize all the levies have fallen. There’s only one thing left now to protect our democracy - voting on Nov. 3

A theme of my campaign was this: “It’s time for the people step in.” And indeed it is. We the People are the solution now.

I understand and I’m feeling it too. But it’s interesting how the word “mourning” in your tweet turned into “morning.” Let’s hold it that way.

Genevieve Deely travelled an agonizing journey out of the deepest emotional darkness, ultimately making her way back to reclaimed joy. She is eloquent & generous in revealing how it’s done, inspiring others to believe that for them too there is always hope.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-bir…

We are NOT helpless. Our country has faced assaults on our democracy before. Other generations pushed them back and so can we.

The president’s defense team arguing for what is basically unlimited presidential power is chilling. Even if they get away with it – which they probably will - it’s important to remember that we the voters are the ultimate judge and jury. We’ll deliver our judgement in November.

Had a great conversation with my friend @KirstenPowers about what I learned in my run for president on her new podcast @HowToDoYouShow. I love her vision for the show: people telling our honest stories about how we do what it is we do. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

I’m not sure you’d see it that way if you read the book. The issue is explained quite well.

Illinois! Would love to introduce you to another progressive I’m supporting , Rachel Ventura who is challenging a corporate Dem in #IL11. @electventura has beat the establishment before and has a strong record standing for the environment. bit.ly/2FFYK09

And after they’re born? 13 million hungry children in America, 100,000 homeless children in America, elementary school children on suicide watch…dealing with THAT is “pro-life.”

Ridiculous and silly and absurd. I suggest a dictionary.

This isn’t a time to learn new things so much as a time to own what we already know. Enough people in America realize the danger the current administration poses to our democracy. The question is, will we be people with enough grit and grace and courage this year to deal with it?

Misstep made by progressives over last few decades was surrendering the words “patriotic” and “moral.” Nothing more patriotic than taking a stand for democracy when it’s under attack, and nothing is more moral than to save children, stand for justice, save the earth, wage peace.
