We are so not even close to helping everybody.

We always have been, until recently. We are a nation that was built on immigrants, remember?

I realize a vast lie has been perpetrated, and the truth must be stated again and again: Illegal crossings were DOWN. This is a made-up crisis. No one is arguing for open borders - of course there should be border security - but seeking asylum is a statutory right.

Until we can overturn Citizens United or pass an Amendment to establish public funding of federal campaigns, the only way to override the economic rather than humanitarian dominance of our domestic and international policies is through a massive awakening of the American people.

It was sincere. Millions of us prayed for him, hoping he would rise to the occasion and behave with dignity and grace.

No. We are the one who left the Paris Climate Agreement.

So we shouldn’t comply with the Paris Accords just in case someone else doesn’t?

Those on both the Left and Right who are dedicated to democracy - to the will of the people as opposed to corporate profits being our governing principle.

I didn’t say that. There are definitely differences!

Our entire economic system is basically sociopathic, in that it puts more value on things than on people. As this is realized, and particularly as more women come into power, a gradual transformation will occur in the direction of economic justice, democracy & Love.#childrenfirst

Wait. Do you think that women can “negotiate” with her insurance company?

It’s true that the Republican Party is now dominated by corporatists who themselves are not true conservatives. But that doesn’t help any of us, even progressives. Seeing the situation for what it is is ultimately helpful to both sides.

And the women of America need to say so: loudly, firmly, and without apology - from the rooftops and at the voting booth.

Any conservative who thinks liberals are the problem, and any liberal who thinks conservatives are the problem, is being had. The real problem is a force that has created that illusion, to keep all of us distracted while they take all the goods.

Whether or not we protect the earth should not be a Left v. Right issue. Whether or not our government is "of, by and for the people" should not be a Left v. Right issue. An amoral corporatism is neither Left nor Right but an antiAmerican, undemocratic assault on our foundations,

We have, or at least did have until recently, a tradition of assimilation. Our country was built on and by immigrants who felt allegiance to the US.That's who the vast majority of our ancestors were. In a country without those traditions, the situation can indeed become troubling
2
I hear your point, but asylum immigration IS legal. It is a statutory right.
1
Yep. And the virus causing that is our belief that we are separate.

We are a huge country, so numbers compared to other countries is not what matters. What matters is percentages. Also, it is our moral responsibility to consider ways in which our own foreign policies have created and/or contributed to many of the refugee crises.
