If the 20th century proved anything, it’s that the rationalistic, materially oriented mind is not of itself the key to creating a peaceful world. For that, we must add love. “Love restores reason and not the other way around.” (ACIM)

Unless you have a telescope inside the hearts and minds of everyone in the world, can you actually say that? Some no longer pray, but many do.

The same engineering and manufacturing genius that creates more military hardware then the world needs, could be repurposed by conscious capitalist and governmental behavior for use building the external infrastructure of a peaceful world.

I agree with your diagnosis but not your prognosis. Those pockets are only bottomless until there is an awakening among the people. Once the corporatist propaganda stops working, the sleeping giant rises up. And the time for that is now.

Praying for a miracle isn’t unsophisticated; it’s more sophisticated. It means opening the mind to a realm of consciousness beyond the mere mortal. Anyone who thinks it’s naïve to pray for miracle, is naive: naïve to think humanity will make it for another 100 years if we don’t.

I agree with your last point tho I would call voting more than a small start. Voting is what got us into this mess: voting for the wrong people! Let’s remember the Indian independence movement was non-violent and bloodless. We need -& can have - a nonviolent political revolution.

Saying anyone who wants to hold capitalism accountable for unethical behavior is “a veiled socialist” is the new corporatist talking point. Holding market forces to same ethical standards as every other corner of society won’t end capitalism; it will transform it & even save it.

OK I’m back!! Large corporations employ 1/2 our workers. Other 1/2 comes from small businesses; universal healthcare, better education & infrastructure would be the best boon for them.Greatest long term economic planning would be better elementary schools for every American child

Women’s suffrage movement , Indian independence movement, the civil rights movement…There are many examples! It’s been done before & can be done again. We’re not the first generation to face anti-democratic forces; let’s just not be the first one to wimp out on doing the job.

So this is how it works. You steal from the public purse to give money to the wealthiest corporations, leaving everyone else in such a state of survival that they will then do anything to get jobs working for the wealthiest corporations, who then steal more from the public purse.

When a country is organized according to the dictates of corporate profit-making as opposed to either humanitarian values or the will of the people, there is a word for that – and it is not democracy.

When Trump says he doesn’t want to end the $110B deal with Saudi Arabia because he “wants Boeing, Raytheon & Lockheed to get those orders for buying all that incredible equipment,” it’s not about “jobs.” It’s about $multiB corporate profits for the military industrial contractors

When our leaders display no shred of decency, it is incumbent upon all of us to shore up our own. Even if honor isn’t displayed by them, make sure it is displayed by you.

I think it’s the ideal that we should love, the possibility that people could live in a place where the means to self actualize would be unobstructed.
