Not sure where we disagree. No one is saying you don’t have a right to go on a hike! But we’re not talking about harassment, we’re talking about murder. The statistics are clear that the greatest danger in those situations is when women are alone. Greater awareness saves lives.

Very glad to hear that. A lot of my own tears went into that book, and it’s been my deepest hope that it would help wipe away the tears of others.

Statistically, fewer crimes are committed by illegal immigrants than by people who are American citizens. google.com/amp/s/www.washing…

The body and all its associated dramas, the personality with all its neurotic pain, is just a launching pad for our ultimate, spirit-infused existence. There’s a quiet joy that accompanies the journey past outdated, outworn perspectives on what it means to be alive.

Wait. You’re suggesting that every time a woman goes hiking she should take a gun with her?? I would think taking another woman with her would be a safer way to go.

You might want to read my tweet again. I certainly didn’t say that a woman should not jog, hike, or leave the house.

You might want to look at some of the statistics regarding violence against women. Is it fear mongering to state what fat, sugar and junk food do to the body? There’s nothing fear-based about simply being more aware.

A man who murders a woman has a bigger problem then “controlling himself.” No one is suggesting that a woman not hike or jog! This is simply to suggest that a woman team up with another woman for safety purposes.

There is no blame here whatsoever. There is simply a mature appraisal of a serious problem in our midst.

No one has said that a woman’s agency or freedom should be curtailed. That’s not what this conversation is about at all. It’s simply a realization among responsible people that there is a pattern of violence against women hiking and jogging alone that should not be ignored.

No one is saying she doesn’t have a right to go wherever she wants; the issue is a pattern of violence we all need to be aware of. A man who murders a woman more than “disrespects” her.

Tears for those who have died & care for those who remain. Parents and friends: Due to the tragic deaths of Mollie Tibbetts and others, it should become a new given that no woman should go hiking or jogging on a trail by herself. May those who have been victimized Rest In Peace.
