That is my point. Human despair is not a medical or scientific issue; it’s a spiritual one. I’m not weighing in on bipolar or schizophrenia; that is not my purview. I am weighing in on issues of normal human despair that are now too often treated pharmaceutically.

There is no statistical evidence to prove things either way; suicides have gone up, anti-depressant use has gone up. My concern is with their overuse and over prescription. There is a normal spectrum of human despair that is not a mental illness.
