Reparations wouldn't be paid to individuals. The money would be applied to larger social, economic and educational issues as determined by a council of African-American leaders. And okay, make it more..! Remember that we spend $700B on defense each year.
I don't think the answer is for women to feel they need to stay home! But if our economic structure was such that one parent, either man or woman, COULD spend more time at home during the early years of our children's lives, we'd be better off.
The mind goes directly to “What should we do?” - but when things are disintegrating dramatically our most powerful response is meditation. The rational mind alone can’t strategize a way beyond all this. Meditation changes probability vectors & paves way to new much needed insight
The most important move we could make now would be for women to find the courage to say “First we’re going to take care of the children” and really mean it. That shift, more than any other, would transform the world.
Every kindergarten is filled with potential Nobel prize winners, world class artists and first class humanitarians. If our children face insurmountable obstacles to their ability to self-actualize, that is our failure and not theirs.
Our greatest untapped domestic energy source is the potential genius within every American child. Invest in mining THAT, starting in pre-K, and our economy - and our happiness - will skyrocket.
