Except that Gore won Florida, and the constitution says states are in charge of their elections. Florida Supreme Court wanted a recount, and US Supreme Court denied it. Retired justice Sandra Day O’Connor has said she regrets her decision.
No Peter, they are more than “unnecessary”; they are terrorizing and in some cases killing America’s schoolchildren. We’re not being “exclusive” or unloving by pushing back the forces now flooding our society with military style weapons.

Assault weapons aren’t just “unnecessary”; they’re terrorizing & killing America’s school children. People don’t have a Constitutional “right” to them & the NRA made exceedingly clear they’re not interested in “engaging” on this matter. The pushback isn’t hate; it is fierce love.

I’m so impressed by those students, so admiring of their parents, so heartbroken for those who grieve & prayerful for those who passed. I’m so disgusted by the NRA & contemptuous of politicians who take their blood money. But I am not without hope, for I know change is on the way

Sometimes Americans are slow to wake up to something but once we do we slam it like nobody's business. Something is happening in this country & we're going to slam it like nobody's business on Nov. 6. The feeling of ENOUGH IS ENOUGH is palpable. A train is coming around the bend.

I'm not enlightened enough to feel no judgmental thoughts towards the NRA representative at the CNN Town Hall meeting. I'm praying for that, but right now I can only I hope America isn't buying a word that she is saying.

We know what to do; we just have to do it. Sane gun safety laws. Reduced gratuitous violence in video games, TV & movies. Social and emotional learning skills in the schools. And violence reduction - through prayer, meditation and forgiveness -- in our own hearts & our own lives.

Van Jones makes a very important point: that an entire generation of American schoolchildren is terrorized at the thought of just going to school. No child, and no parent, should have to endure this anxiety.
