I'm so focused on $$ I can't see past my nose...? And your church sounds amazing.

Really? I read the Bible and see "give to the poor", "do justly by others" and "love thy neighbor" all over it. And in the Old Testament God is not just talking to individuals, He is talking to a nation.

Then what's your view of the $1.5 Trillion hole they just blew in the deficit?

We agreed on something! :) Glad we stayed in there.

And what is your solution?

I agree they come in all shapes and sizes; I don't romanticize the poor. But check out the human reality on the ground and get back to me.
My father grew up in poverty, became successful, and had the exact opposite reaction as you. He saw poverty as evil. He never forgot the Catholic university that gave a poor Jewish kid a college education, & vowed to forever emulate their generosity toward those who had so little

I don't deny there's abuse of government assistance, but the vast majority of that abuse is on the part of huge multi-national corporations, banks, and the top 001 per cent. This tax bill is a perfect example .

We don't have to become a socialist nation; we could just be a fairer one. With universal healthcare (like every other advanced democracy), & free tuition at a community college or tech school, more people would have a chance at getting into the game. Too many are now locked out.

I'm in NY! And you and I are getting somewhere after all. I'm happy we're talking. And welcome, Richard! Layne and I have been circling each other for a long time:)

I don't agree. It's important that we not personalize this. It's unjust SYSTEMS, not unjust individuals, that are redistributing the opportunities for wealth creation. Deeper problem is the legalized system of bribery that makes it possible. WE MUST GET THE MONEY OUT OF POLITICS.

NOOOO, we absolutely can provide affordable healthcare and livable wages to our own people. WE DO NOT CHOOSE TO. Huge difference.
