You make a legitimate point - & why I ran as an Independent when I ran for Congress - but for me personally the stakes are too high now. I'm throwing my support to reclaiming the soul of the Democratic Party.

Yeah, but other generations were depressed too and they dealt with it. It's an art form, honoring our sadness but making sure it doesn't stop us from showing up.

I celebrate as much as you do that sexual assault victims are now heard. Many have worked long and hard to forge the path to this day.

As a Jew, I see it completely differently. What dishonors the memory of the Holocaust is to ignore that our President has supported Nazis. NEVER AGAIN is not just words. It means we must look at current circumstances and nip anything in the bud that could lead to similar horrors.

This struggle will be long; there will be some days we win, and some days we lose. Yesterday was tough, but the struggle continues.

And we should remember how many things ARE under our control! Humanity is responsible for how we choose to live in this world.

I agree that those things are very important, but we should remember how many Germans did exactly those things while ignoring all the Jews being put on trains and taken to concentration camps while they did. Life has many important facets.

Remember difference between "anti-slavery" & "Abolitionist." "Anti-slavery" meant you're against slavery but not necessarily doing anything about it; "Abolitionist" meant NOT ON MY WATCH. We all need that psychological & behavioral leap now: from "This is bullshit" to "HELL NO!"

You're right. No matter what, future generations will remember us. They will either bless us and say "thank you," or they will sadly regret our having wimped out on doing what needed to be done to save our democracy from ruin.

I love that line too. A course in miracles

Our problem is not just the right wing takeover of the US govt; the problem is we're so fatigued, scared by the whole thing, shocked by the assault, that we are tempted to acquiesce. Do NOT acquiesce. Remember abolitionists, suffragettes, and civil rights era. THAT is your legacy

Whatever you do don't be what the world calls "realistic;" that's the last thing we can afford to be. Put on your wings now! Don't just stare at the darkness of what is; gaze into the Light of what could be. Don't just bemoan limited probability; commit to infinite possibility.

Sad night...
Our extreme poverty rate is so high that it is an international concern. Why on earth are Republicans are trying to push through a $1.5 trillion tax cut for the very wealthiest, while 41 million Americans are living in poverty? This is a disgrace. theguardian.com/world/2017/d…
