“Most people,” Danny? How do you know? And it shouldn’t matter anyway. People get to have different opinions in America. Freedom means we don’t all have to think the same way; only in a totalitarian society is everybody supposed to toe the line and think and act in the same way.
They were not stopping the game. They were not disturbing the game whatsoever. The national anthem is a civic action beforehand. I thought there was something beautiful about the fact that some chose to stand, some chose to kneel, but we were all there together. Very AMERICAN.
Bravo to Jets CEO Christopher Johnson; he’ll absorb the fines so players who kneel won’t be punished. As important as it is to know what’s wrong it’s equally important to take a moment to celebrate those providing the antidote. google.com/amp/s/mobile.nyti…
I was always moved by the NFL players kneeling, because men who had attained great success within the system were saying that had not been bought off, that they remembered those underserved & disserved. What’s happened to us that we’re so afraid of healthy disagreement & protest?
The thing about NFL players kneeling during anthem is this: in a way it’s a sign of respect, a message that “we can do better.” To tell players if they don’t want to stand they can stay off the field, is to force them to show disrespect when that wasn’t even what they were doing.
No NFL, you did NOT come up with a “compromise.” I hope the players – all of them, whether they are those who choose to kneel or not – will push back against this. This is America, where our right to express ourselves is sacred.
Now more than ever, great artists and thinkers are reminders of what’s possible. Thank you Philip Roth. Rest in peace now; those of us still here will continue to aim high.
The only thing we have to fear is people thinking things like this are no big deal; they are a very big deal. EPA blocks CNN and Associated Press journalists from attending Pruitt speech

Do you think forgiveness means you don't vote, take part in elections, stand up against injustice? Do you think forgiveness kills our brain cells? Do you think forgiveness means we never disagree with someone else's opinions? What an odd view of forgiveness.
