Why shouldn’t the goal of all domestic and international policy be the amelioration of unnecessary suffering? Does anyone really think the world would be worse off? And might it not be better?

Prepare yourself inwardly for a life of greatness. Sometimes we’re so intent on not getting ahead of ourselves that we remain behind ourselves.

A cell in the body that forgets it’s here to collaborate with other cells is malignant. And that’s what has happened to humanity: we’ve been infected with a malignant consciousness, the thought that “it’s all about me.” Awakening from that delusion is key to healing our world.

Ask John McCain! He WAS tortured as a POW, and is the biggest campaigner against it. He has said that Gina Haspel’s refusal to call torture immoral should disqualify her from the position.

I don’t see anything I’ve said that blamed a woman for violence perpetrated against her. It’s not invalidating a woman’s pain to validate the strength that dwells within her.

The question for women today is not whether or not other people take us seriously so much as whether or not we choose to be serious.

Dem Sens got it right! Google Kamala H questioning of Gina Haspel. The issue of waterboarding is not whether it was legal but whether it was moral. Approving Haspel’s nomination (will probably happen because Repubs control Senate) would tell the world America has no moral center.

There is no evidence whatsoever that torture works. Torture makes someone tell you whatever it is they think you want to hear that will stop the torture. There are far more effective ways of getting information.

I agree with you about Franken. Totally.
Watching Gina Haspel at her Cong hearing reminded me of watching Kate Winslet’s character in the movie “The Reader.” Good people can be lured into thinking that making a business run well is more important than upholding one’s conscience. Issues of public morality are so crucial

I like fashion! I respect fashion. I think it’s a public art form. My point did not have to do with fashion, it had to do with serious attention being where it needs to be right now. You can love fashion and still have a sober perspective on the world. I know many who do.

Watching Gina Haspel being interrogated about her role in directing a CIA interrogation program is critical to our understanding of the world today. The use of torture is a huge moral issue; much more important than who wore what at the Met gala. 🙄#Don’tbetemptedbystupidthings
