That is probably our greatest danger: the willingness of far too many people to accept things are okay that upon sober reflection are seen to be absolutely not okay. Americans are in a trance from which for the sake of our future we had best awaken. 4/4

What is disturbing now is how the most egregious behavior has been normalized and how complacent so many have become in the face of it. People have been worn down, conscience numbed, our sense of moral outrage diminished. 3/4

When and where we weren’t (racial injustice, Vietnam etc), there was a sense of healthy shame among enough of us that at least you could feel it. And it turned into political force (civil rights movement, anti-war movement, etc.) 2/4

We shouldn’t romanticize or whitewash any aspect of American history, but I can tell you that when I was growing up there was a sense that America was *supposed* to be good. 1/4

Assange’s life is being cruelly crushed, and he could soon be expedited to the U.S. for trial on espionage charges. Even if convicted (given the trial’s location, the chances are small that he would not be), as President I would pardon him. 3/3

Assange’s life is being destroyed for exposing US war crimes -  an ultimate   betrayal in the eyes of tge practitioners of faux freedom. To them the role of the press is to protect the U.S. war machine, not monitor its moves or hold it accountable. 2/3

There are several areas where we expected Biden to reverse Trump policies and go back to Obama’s yet he didn’t - none more shocking than his efforts to prosecute Julian Assange.    1/3

Congratulations to @NationalNurses! The idea that nurses wouldn’t have what they need is preposterous.
UMC RNs are #UnionStrong!!!! Despite management's best efforts, we won our union election. We are thrilled to finally have a seat at the table to fight for #SafeStaffing, adequate supplies, and the BEST patient care. We did it!!!

The UN resolution was for a ceasefire along with release of the hostages. The United States vote against it was shameful.

Today's minimum wage is still $7.25. A third of American workers work for less than $15/hr., and half of those cannot find a place to live. A living wage in most major cities is over $20/hr. This is how America creates, maintains and ignores a permanent underclass. It should be clarion call to a justice, conscience, and a revolution at the ballot box. marianne2024.com
