The dialogue centered around the social safety net and how we can create changes from the grassroots level up to not only create a more inclusive environment for those who face isolation and stigmas, but also strengthen our ability to provide effective help when needed. 2/2
We had another amazing #GlobalTaipeiDialogue last night, where we heard speaker Sean Du from Taiwan LGBTQ+ Hotline and Liao Fu-Yuan from the Eden Foundation, as well as Legislators Wang Wen-Yu and Wu Yu-Chin. 1/2
It was with great pleasure that I learned of Ms. Jenny Bloomfield's appntmnt as the next 🇦🇺 Representative to Taiwan. In light of the #NewSouthboundPolicy & the #Bilingual Country 2030 Plan, I eagerly anticipate a deepening of 🇦🇺🇹🇼 ties under the leadership of Ms. Bloomfield.

I greatly enjoyed the insightful conversation on the current state&potential future trajectories of Taiwan-EU relations. We also touched upon the role of #thinktank's in shaping those ties, incl. our fellows @zsuzsettte@yehaoqin research on 🇪🇺🇹🇼 #softpower. See you again soon!
🇹🇼🤝🇨🇵🤝🇪🇺 #Taiwan & the #EU are like-minded partners. Taiwan should thus cultivate its #SoftPower in 🔑 areas such as #PublicHealth, #technology, and #Democracy. I thank Mr. Pierre Goulange of the French Office and Mr. Jaume Soler of EETO for visiting us at @NextGenTaiwan. [1/2]
Finally, international organizations and actors should address Xi how he would like to be addressed on his home turf — as Chairman or General Secretary. He is not an elected leader in the way that the term president connotes, and the term is not how he is addressed at home. 3/3
Furthermore, China has no interest in leading under the terms that Chairman Xi outlines here — the irony he demonstrates here could actually be quite funny if it weren’t for the crimes against humanity that his regime inflicts on a daily basis. 2/3
Stunningly — General Secretary Xi is correct — perhaps 13 aerial incursions a day is “showing off strong muscles or waving a big fist” a bit too much. Under the Chairman’s unswerving leadership, China should chill out, relax, and end its policy of coercion towards Taiwan. 1/3
“The strong should not bully the weak,” President Xi said. “Decisions should not be made by simply showing off strong muscles or waving a big fist.” #DavosAgenda
