Congratulations to @AsiaProgram on such a successful event. Alongside @sanahashmi1's cogent and, most importantly, actionable! ideas for deepening 🇮🇳🇹🇼 ties, I enjoyed @MichaelKugelman's insights into triangular DC-Taipei-New Delhi relations...

My travels to 🇮🇳made me realize the great potential of #IndiaTaiwan relations. Now, as the leader of @NextGenTaiwan, I'm honored to learn from accomplished IR scholars, such as our brilliant @sanahashmi1, and better understand how we can actually bring #Taipei & #NewDelhi closer.

@sanahashmi1 offers some razor-sharp arguments for closer #Taipei-#NewDelhi ties: 1)🇹🇼 bound to play a key role in the ever-evolving #IndoPacifc concept; 2) complementary #COVID19 prevention policies of 🇮🇳&🇹🇼 (#VaccineDiplomacy of India& #TaiwanCanHelp #maskdiplomacy 😷of Taiwan)

💉 The 1️⃣ batch of #COVID19Vaccine has arrived in Taiwan! We've been a global leader in stifling the deadly #coronavirus and has actively supported its partners around the globe. Great to see that #COVAX program has now reached our archipelago democracy! focustaiwan.tw/society/20210…

The key point here is that #China agreed to international rules on trade — as did #Taiwan 🤝 . How can both sides of the strait develop a trusting relationship (that would benefit all) if one side doesn’t abide by international agreements? 4/5

I wonder whether there aren’t buyers who are left arbitrarily blocked from their choice supplier of pineapples. This issue is not about the buyers and citizens of China, but rather policies that intrude on a prosperous regional market for produce. 3/5

When I say markets, I do mean the plural — from street vendors to grocers, those who wish to buy these pineapples should have the right to do so. Sharing food is an amazing way to build trust. 2/5

For those of you looking for a bit of Chinese language content, please check out my recent op-ed in Liberty Times @ltntw 自由時報! It’s a commentary on the recent expulsion of Taiwanese pineapples from China’s markets. 1/5 talk.ltn.com.tw/article/pape…

We strongly condemnMyanmar Police's use of lethal force against peaceful protestors on Feb 28th. A people’s right to free speech must be upheld by government institutions; as such, Sunday's events can only be characterized as unjustifiable and abhorrent. theguardian.com/world/2021/f…

During my time with @NextGenTaiwan, I personally ensured the organization actively engages our European friends. NextGen has facilitated visits of the Members of the #LegislativeYuan to the Europe (🇫🇮🇩🇪🇱🇹🇱🇻🇪🇪), and hosted 🇧🇬 delegations in Taiwan. Here's to much more of this! 🥂

🍍 Many of you have been asking what’s up with the #FreedomPineapple now trending in Taiwan. We got you! Swipe through our #infographic to learn more! 🚫 Effective 3/1, #China, the No. 1️⃣ consumer of 🇹🇼🍍, unilaterally imposed an #embargo on the imports of the fruit. [🧵]

Truth-seeking is the foundation of transitional justice. This is why we need to stand up to silence and indifference. This will be the source of strength among the people of our Archipelago Democracy.

Since mid-90s, Taiwan has actively pursued #TransitionalJustice to advance the cause of reconciliation and strengthen our society. Although I believe we made some progress, we may never forget or overlook the atrocities of the #228Incident & the following period of #WhiteTerror.
