Our military posture is, has, and will continue to be defensive. It is a result of the threat that we have been continuously reminded of over the decades— the threat of being liberated, reunited with the “motherland”, or having “our” sovereignty protected as a province.

The deterrent that these missiles provide serves its purpose effectively, economically, and without threatening our brothers and sisters across East Asia.

Taiwan will continue to defend our right to exist, our sovereignty and our way of life. We are a peaceful people — but we will not be coerced.
