Here’s our translation of Taiwan’s Minister of Transportation and Communication, Lin Chia-lung, on the topic of sitting in Taipei Main station. Tl;dr in this statement he was in support of keeping this tradition, but more recent media reports suggest he has softened a bit.
車站的公共空間，應在符合疏運及安全的前提下，盡可能提供包括移工在內的所有民眾共享，同時應避免標籤化特定族群。
佳龍昨天就已經指示台鐵，在疫情穩定後，與指揮中心研商評估逐步管理開放；等疫情確定結束後，也能及早讓一切如常。
