🏥The people of #Taiwan need to maintain their trust in our institutions. CDC continues to provide detailed&timely updates. The private sector (shopping mall etc visited by the 2 pateints) also show a high degree of responsibility by closing their facilities for disinfection.

The 2️⃣ new cases of domestic transmission of the coronavirus at a hospital #Taoyuan are unfortunate news. Nevertheless, I remain grateful to medical personnel&contact tracers for serving on the 1️⃣ line of defense. So far, test results for 464 people tested came back negative.

🤝The announced HSR extnsn gives Pingtung a chance. In my hometown of #Chiayi, HSR brought about a new "HSR town" of more than 135 ha. Instead of deepening the already deep divide b/w the resource-rich KH&still largely rural Pingtung, HSR will bring positive change to PT! [7/7]

The new HSR station will become an "urban lobby" for Pingtung - positioning it as an attractive destination for both local and international investors (I see a lot of potential in cooperation under the #NewSouthboundPolicy!) which is easy to access. #Logistics are 🔑!! [6/7]

tl;dr: Extending HSR directly to Pingtung helps reducing subnational inequality!
